"One of the best bike shops in the Midwest" -- Bicycle Times

NEWS

Our Off-Season HOURS:  Monday, Thursday - Friday: 10-4:30; Saturday 10-5; & Wednesday 10-6.

We can meet you at other times by prior appointment.

We are happy to announce that John Delaney, formerly of George Garner's in Libertyville has joined our team.  John's friends are welcome to stop in and say 'hi' and check out the shop.  With John now settled in, we have made major changes to our service department.  We are confident that the quality of our service work will improve and that turn-around times will go down.  We are also lowering prices!  If you haven't been in for service since the mechanics changed, check out our new and improved service program.

SALE:  Schwinn, Marin, GT, Jamis and many other bikes from model years before 2012 are all on sale.  See our "What's on Sale" page for details (link above).

We have a few demo and 2010/2011 display bikes that are still available right now--and they are also on sale at big savings.  Don't miss out on these great savings opportunities--once these bikes are gone, your chance to experience the year's biggest savings will be gone with them.
Demo and Display Sale items include bikes and frames from Marin, Calfee, Independent Fabrication, Milani, Time, Sun, Schwinn and Jamis.  The price reductions on these bikes are up to 50% OFF ORIGINAL RETAIL PRICES.  Many of these discounts are listed on the sale list; others are in-store deals only.  To access the sale list, click the "What's on Sale" tab (above).

We are on Facebook with great photos of the shop, bikes we have built up recently and other information.  Search Joie De Velo on Facebook to see this information.

This year, we have consistently been asked about one brand we did not carry--Electra.  Well, we now have Electra bikes in stock ready for you to check out and take home.  Electra makes really cool, comfortable cruisers, town bikes and fitness bikes.  If you have been looking for an Electra bike, we have them!

The Brands List

Bicycles (partial list):

Argon 18--Tri, TT and road bikes from Quebec.

Baum--We are one of the very few US dealers for these amazing custom titanium and steel road and mountain bikes from Australia's most highly regarded independent bicycle builder.

Calfee--Famous for their great carbon road and cross bikes, Calfee also builds the best bamboo bikes in the business for road or mountain.

Electra--By popular demand we now stock and sell these cool bikes for men and women with inspired styling and the famous "Flat Foot", forward pedal design.  Very comfortable and fun to ride.

Focus--a full range of bikes engineered and built in Germany including insanely great Tri and TT bikes designed by the legendary Andreas Walser.

Frances--Josh Muir's artisanal steel bikes are aesthetic wonders that blend great ride, incredible design and amazing custom details and are some of our favorite road bikes, fixies, tourers and cargo bikes.

GT--Awsome road and mountain bikes from one of the country's fastest growing brands.  Great bicycles at tremendous value prices.

Gunnar--Craft built by hand in Wisconsin, these steel bikes are available in standard geometry and custom geometry too.  Gunnar's are light, well designed frames that offer a great deal for flexibility and that are available in a tremendous range of colors.  This is a great place to start if you are looking for something special but don't want to break the bank in the process.

Independent Fabrication--IF builds awesome custom Road, Cross, Mountain and Touring bikes in the USA.  The IF paint shop does a great job finishing these masterworks to an impossibly high standard.  If you have never had a chance to ride an IF and you are considering a new custom bike, you owe it to yourself to stop in and demo one.

Jamis--A great line up of bikes built around the idea that value for money and superior design can coexist in a single product.

Look--brilliant carbon bicycles from France with state of the art technology, unbeatable style and awsome performance.

Marin--Another great value line of bikes with a strong mountain heritage.  Marin bikes work really well around here because they are equally at home on road, path or unpaved trail.

Morewood--From South Africa comes this line of rugged dual suspension mountain bikes that will tackle the most challenging hills with ease.

Moulton--Iconic small wheel suspension bikes designed by Sir Alex Moulton, the genius who was responsible for the original Mini motorcar.  Hand built in England by the Alex Moulton Bicycle Company, they ride with a stability that inspires tremendous confidence.  Capable of surprising speed and exhibiting great handling, these bikes also break down to easily fit in even very small cars.

Parlee--The very finest in carbon road and TT framesets.  Superior design meets the ultimate attention to detail in what many consider to be the best carbon bikes money can buy.

Pashley--Beautifully detailed handmade classics bikes from England that are quite rare in the US and are the original masterpieces that have spawned so very many inferior copies.  Yet unlike other works of art, these originals are priced competitively when compared with the knock offs.

Pearson--Graeme Pearson does things with carbon that other folks just don't seem to be able to do.  That may be why his small shop in Rotura was selected to make bikes for New Zealand's Olympic teams throughout the 1990s.

Schwinn--Iconic Cruisers, Hybrids, Road and Mountain Bikes with great style, Schwinn's are some of the best values in the market today.  Don't confuse our "Signature Series" bikes with the stuff you see in the big box stores, these bikes are made with quality parts and feature some great engineering.

Sun--Great looking, great riding cruisers, trikes, tandems and comfort bikes designed in Miami, FL.  These bikes are priced so that everyone can afford to ride them.

Time--French designed, French made (not just assembled or painted in France from components sourced elsewhere, but really made from scratch just outside of Paris). Time makes carbon road, TT and track bikes that are flawlessly finished and that are engineered as well or better than any other production bikes on the market.

Velo Orange--Bicycles that, while thoroughly modern, harken back to the golden age of European touring bikes.  Check out the details on these beautifully finished lugged steel bikes and you will be pleasantly surprised by their affordable prices.

Waterford--Hand made custom steel bikes from Wisconsin that are beautifully detailed.  Waterford's lug work is some of the best in the industry and there frames are both great to ride and wonderful to behold.

Worksman--American designed, New York built classics, cruisers, trikes, tandems and work bikes.  Year in and year out, Worksman bikes do jobs that would destroy other products in a few minutes.  Own a factory and need an environmentally friendly and economical way for your employees to get around, Worksman industrial bikes are the answer.  Ask us about our fleet pricing plans for large orders.  For the every day rider, we stock a good selection of popular models and participate in the Worksman customization program that lets you choose unique color schemes, trim options and features for your new cruiser and to have the bike delivered to you in as little as a month after placing your order.

Wheel brands:

Here's a sampling of some of the pre-built wheelset brands we carry or can order for you (or ask us to custom build wheels for you in house, including with our remarkable wooden rims):

HED.--The manufacturer states that the HED 3 is the most aerodynamically efficient non-disc wheel you can buy and all of their products are brilliant.  Moultoneers: We Stock HED 406s and 17" wheels (for those of you lucky enough to own an AM series bicycle).  If you are interested in significantly upgrading your Moulton with a great new wheelset, consider these carbon road wheels.

Lightweight--You see the pros riding them, but they're hard to find even on the web.  We've got 'em in stock and on bikes so that you can ride these epic carbon masterworks and find out why they are legendary.

Rolf Prima--Not only do they look incredibly cool, these hand built wheel sets from Oregon deliver some of the best performance available today and they do so at prices that make them some of the best values on the market today.

Zipp--Speed Weapons.  Stunning craftsmanship, the best components and the look that tells your competition that you mean business.  We stock carbon and aluminum wheelsets and race ready discs.
